- : Try an init string of AT&F1. That will set you up with the default settings
- : for hardware flow control.
-
- Yep done that. I also tried &F1\q3 just in case.
-
- : Also make sure you are plugging your tel line into
- : the correct socket on the modem and have your PC and software set up for the
- : right comm port settings. Remember, if you are using an external modem you
- : must have a high speed comm port (16550 UART) to support speeds over 9600 baud
- : reliably.
-
- Yep all that and a short shileded cable etc etc
-
- : I use a Power 28.8, which uses the same commands, and I connect at 26400-28800
- : with everything I call (so far!).
-
- I find that the V34 mode is fine. Its just any other connections that seem
- to be about 50% success. Using &F1 seems to increase the hit rate
- to about 75%. Especially bad is incoming fax which is terrible no matter
- which fax sw I use (Eclipse, WinFax Pro, QuickLink II).
-
- : You might also want to look at http://www.teleport.com/~curt/modems.html for
- : some very good tips and instructions on using high speed modems.
-
- Thanks for the tip, Ill look at it now as Motorola and Microsmith
- (the sw that comes with the modmem) web sites are useless!!
-
- Thanks for your tips, they were appreciated,
